Dust Allergy Guide


Almost 10% of the US population has suffered from dust allergy. It’s also found that as much as 90% of asthma patients are allergic to dust. Since dust mite is a common thing of any house, so avoiding the triggers is truly a challenging job.

Symptoms of dust allergy resemble a lot with those of hay fever. You will have watery and itchy eyes and runny nose. Another common symptom of dust allergy is repeated sneezing. The symptoms generally arise while cleaning the house or searching something in the old stacked up stuffs. However, this doesn’t mean that people who have clean house will never get dust allergy or people with dirty house are more prone to it. Dust may have fabric fibers, bacteria, parts of insects, pet dander, mold spores and food flecks. All these are common items found in general homes.

The excretion from the dust mites has numerous protein substances. As these substances cones in contact with the skin, antibodies are produced by the body. The antibodies release a chemical known as histamine, which causes the allergic symptoms like irritation and swelling.
