Pollen Allergy |
Tiny particles are released from trees, weeds, and grasses and other flora during spring, summer, and fall. They are known as pollen, which travel on air currents. Their objective is pollination but many do not achieve that objective. Some enter noses and throats of humans. This triggers rose fever or hay fever or pollen allergy. Also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis. Pollen is one of the commonest sources of allergy. Other allergies like dust, insects can be avoided. However except for staying indoors it’s impossible to avoid pollen allergy. Indoor allergens are caused year round from molds and dust mites and are evident from nasal disorders. What is pollen? Microscopic pollen grains from are carried by air and insects. The commonest pollen grains that cause pollen allergy are from plants that do not produce fancy flowers. Trees, weeds and grass pollens produce the maximum of such type of pollens. Millions of pollens could be produced by cotton or ragweed plants. Pollen allergies are most commonly caused by English plantain, tumblewood, redroot pigweed and sagebrush. Elm, oak, cedar is other known sources. Contrary to common belief, pollen from rose or other colorful plants rarely cause pollen allergy because these are heavy pollens carried by insects and have a lesser probability of entering the human body. |
