Antiallergic Medications, Precautions and Side Effects.

Allergies are hard to treat. Sometimes you need a real arsenal of medicines to get rid of a crisis. The first choice medicines are the oral antihistamine drugs. They have a lot of use precautions , side effects (the principal ones are: drowsiness, impaired ability to accurately operate machinery) and interactions. The second group is the corticoid group. The same happens to them: a lot of precautions (hypertension, glaucoma), side effects and interactions. There are some preparations used to minimize symptoms such as running nose, itching, sneezing.

Those are ear, eyes and nose drops.  Some of the nose drops have more than one component, usually an antihistaminic and a descongestant, that also has important side effects and has to be used carefully.  So, it is very important that the physicians and pharmacists give patients good explanations on how to use those medicines.  Also, patients must not abuse of any of them.  Each medicine has a studied dose interval that has to be respected. If you put nose drops at very short intervals, you may have the contrary effect and get a congested nose.  Also, patients must be careful about driving while under use of antihistaminic drugs.
