Tests for Detecting Mold Allergies

If an individual is suffering from mold allergy, he or she must have the immune system sensitive towards mold spores. The symptoms of mold allergy are almost similar to any other allergic reactions. These include symptoms like: coughing, sneezing, blocked nose, itching eyes and nose and skin rashes. Thus for knowing that whether its mold allergy or allergy to some other agent, you must undergo some diagnostic tests.

One of the most common ways of diagnosing mold allergy is the skin prick test. This test includes the application of the suspected allergen to the patient’s skin. Generally the allergen is applied on the arms or the back.

You can also perform a blood test. The blood test done in this purpose is known at RAST or radioallergosorbent test. The samples of the patient’s bloods are taken and tested in the laboratory. The blood is checked for detecting antibodies indicating the occurrence of mold allergy.
