Elder flowers are one of the scientifically unproven yet widely used natural herbal cures for allergies or hay fever. The Elder flower is obtained from plants known as Black Elder which can be found in most temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. Scientifically, there are three sub species of Black Elder namely European Black Elder, Blue Elder and American Black Elder. The flower from the Black Elder plant is one of the most effective cures of hay fever or allergies amongst the western alternative sciences.
Mostly, Elder flowers are used in conjunction with some other naturally occurring herbs. Herbs that are used with Elder flowers include the yarrow herb, common purple cornflower herb, boneset herb, purple loosestrife herb etc. The combination of the Elder flower and two of these herbs in the ratio of 2:1:1 has been found to be extremely useful for eradicating allergies on a practical basis, even though scientifically the results are still inconclusive.
Taking the concoction thrice a day has been found to be extremely effective. Since the concoction is natural in nature, it has no side effects and can be had on the basis of how bad the symptoms are. This means that if a person is especially suffering on one particular day then the patient can double the dosage to around six times.
