What causes pet allergy? Many people think pet allergy is mostly associated with animal hair, such as dog and cat hair. The modern study has found that the allergens are the proteins in the saliva of animals, which mostly sticks the hair/fur. This is because the animal licks itself and the saliva spreads into its fur/hair. Cats are more likely to cause allergy than dog, probably because they lick themselves more than dogs and live among humans more than the dogs do. Pet allergy need not necessarily be caused by cats and dogs, but other animals as well. Pigs have become very popular as household pets. They can even cause allergic reactions and so are mice and rats. Symptoms of Pet allergy Lot of people do not have awareness about pet allergy. They let the kids play with pet without any monitoring or after play precautions. Few pet allergy reactions can be very serious for kids. Some allergies take time to mature and becomes difficult to handle. The symptoms include sudden eye itches, breathing issues, rashes, etc. One very good example can be that of cats. Fur of cats are known to cause Asthma in Human Beings. The modern study reports that 11 Million people are allergic to cats alone, furthermore they say that a person can develop an allergy any time. |
