What Can Vitamin C Do For Allergy Treatment?

Vitamins and other associated supplements have been known to be extremely effective in combating allergies, hay fever or scientifically, allergic rhinitis. Although there are at least four types of vitamins which are effective for treating allergies, Vitamin C is still widely regarded as an extremely effective substance. In fact, in some researches, patients who were given significant amounts of vitamin C reported almost complete negation of all allergic symptoms. In contrast, the control side of these experiments, wherein patients were given placebos, there was no such improvement.

Furthermore, in many ancient cultures, every time a person had allergic symptoms, he or she was told by the elders to have citrus fruits, which are known to be ideal for Vitamin C. Therefore, it is believed that vitamin C is one of the foremost substances for battling allergies.

Vitamin C supplements are usually given in the form of ascorbates as in this form they are most effective. Also, it is common to take these supplements in conjunction with polyphenols and anthocyanins which are usually extracted from pine bark, berries etc. It should be noted that a patient does not have to go about acquiring each of these individually as readymade mixtures are available in the market.
